IOSA Auditing Services

We are one of the first organisations in the world to become an IATA accredited Audit Organisation (AO). Only IATA accredited Audit Organisations are permitted to conduct audits under the IATA Operational Safety Audit (IOSA) programme.

We ensure that documented and implemented systems comply with applicable safety and regulatory standards such as ISO 9001, ICAO, IATA requirements, the IOSA standards manual, manufacturers specifications and company standards.

Audit results will determine the effectiveness of implemented management systems, and provide information relating to areas of non-compliance and/or non-conformance, including recommendations and opportunities for improvement.

The IATA Operational Safety Audit Programme

IATA has developed IOSA in conjunction with the world’s leading airlines and industry entities. IOSA is a single internationally accepted airline audit process which is designed to replace the proliferation of audits that lack common standards and consistency.

Benefits of participating in IOSA

The benefits of IOSA to the airline industry are:

A reduction in the number of audits required by alliance members and code-share partners;

Cost savings;

Increased code share opportunities;

Quality Standards recognised internationally;

Improved operations and increased operational flexibility;

All IOSA audit reports will be monitored by IATA to ensure standardisation and consistency;

Audit sharing between IOSA participating airlines and regulators.

The IOSA program will assist in delivering a more efficient and cost effective airline operation by reducing the number of audits within the industry.

The IOSA Registry

Airlines that successfully complete an IOSA audit will be listed as IOSA operators on an exclusive IOSA Registry, set up and maintained by IATA.

Once certified, IOSA operators will be required to satisfy the requirements of an IOSA audit once every two years to remain on the IOSA Registry.

Both IATA member and non-member airlines are encouraged to participate in this worldwide program and seek registration by scheduling an IOSA audit.

Services and Solutions

IOSA Audits will only be recognised by IATA for registration if they are conducted by IATA approved Audit Organisations (AOs).

ACS is an IATA accredited Audit Organisation. ACS has met all IOSA company requirements and our auditors have met all stringent IOSA training and qualification standards.

We have auditors qualified in all the operational disciplines covered by the IOSA Standards Manual.

IOSA Operational Disciplines

The IOSA program is designed around eight core operational disciplines, as listed below. ACS will tailor an audit program consisting only of the operational disciplines applicable to the company being audited. Common to most disciplines are the following audit requirements: Organisation and Management; Manuals and Documentation; Quality Assurance; Training Programs; and Contracted Services.

How our IOSA Audits Work

The conduct of all IOSA Audits must be in accordance with the requirements of the IOSA Program Manual and the IOSA Standards Manual.

1.

Before conducting an IOSA Audit, Aviation Compliance Solutions will provide an Audit Agreement that must be completed and executed. Both ACS and the Client will hold a copy of the agreement.

2.

Our Audit Co-ordinator will establish initial contact with the company representative/s to discuss the requirements of the audit and request copies of documentation and information, which may be applicable to the scope of the audit.

3.

The Audit Co-ordinator will prepare an Audit Plan, giving consideration to the audit scope and objectives. A copy of the Audit Plan will be distributed to both the Client and IATA before commencement of the audit.

4.

The audit will commence with an Entry Meeting, whereby all stakeholders are briefed on the Audit Plan, methodology and timetable. It also provides an opportunity to clarify any problems or queries relating to the audit.

5.

The first task will be to conduct a desktop audit on current documentation to ensure it complies with the IOSA Standards and wherever possible, IOSA recommended practices.

6.

We will conduct a series of operational observations and interviews using a sampling process. These take place across all operational disciplines and are in accordance with only those items specifi ed on the IOSA approved checklists.

7.

We will hold daily Audit Team meetings. The Client will be advised daily of any potential or verified findings, any unobtainable audit objectives and the identified strengths of their system/s.

8.

At the conclusion of the audit, we conduct a Closing Meeting to summarise our observations, findings and recommendations. An Interim IOSA Report (IIAR) is presented at this meeting or forwarded to the Client within 15 days from the date of the Closing Meeting.

9.

The findings presented in the IIAR are used by ACS, in conjunction with the Client, to develop a Corrective Action Plan.

10.

We monitor the Client’s implementation of the Corrective Action Plan and verify all agreed corrective actions have been implemented. All actions that apply to IOSA standardsmust be closed within 12 months of the IOSA audit date.

11.

Following closure of all the corrective actions raised during an audit, we will declare the audit closed. A Final Audit Report will be prepared and distributed to the Client andIATA.

12.

We will advise IATA the Client has met the IOSA standard and issue a certificate. IATA will then include the Client on the IOSA Registry.

13.

The information contained in the Audit Report is tightly controlled and strictly confidential. IATA becomes the official custodian of all IOSA Audit reports. All working documents from the audit will be destroyed and confirmation of such action will be provided to the Client and IATA.
